The number 40 indicates it was priced at 40,000y more than 51 years ago. The guitar does show some wear and a couple of small discolorations but it is structurally sound exhibits wonderful Spanish with deep basses silky clear trebles. I'm not the only er currently selling a Hiroshi Tamura guitar. It is very light weight and has side bracing which suggests all solid construction - with top, sides back.
